Submission + - The theory, that COVID-19 was made in the lab, is no longer considered"debunked" (politifact.com)

mi writes: As of May 17th, a fact-checking site, that has earlier claimed the theory of artificial origins of the COVID-19 to have been "debunked", no longer thinks so:

When this fact-check was first published in September 2020, PolitiFact’s sources included researchers who asserted the SARS-CoV-2 virus could not have been manipulated. That assertion is now more widely disputed. For that reason, we are removing this fact-check from our database pending a more thorough review.

Evidently, claims of having "debunked" it were premature, and what was presented as a fact, was merely an opinion.

For a while I thought not implementing this feature was a deliberate act by Amazon, but now, seeing, how crappy their search engine is, I'm beginning to suspect, it is simply incompetence, rather than malice.

That only makes sense, when the subject is tangible property. Does anyone even own the software projects in subject?

What you said is a pithy false dichotomy that disregards any and all motivations other than pay and pleasure.

No. You pick that litter because it gives you pleasure — you've improved the world around you, and can feel better about yourself. You're under no obligation to do it. I know, that this is, what motivates me to fill out bug-reports, donate my own code, return shopping carts, and, yes, pick up litter.

disagree with your thinking that such demands are being made here

Well, I'll be happy if you end up being right.

Could you specify what you took as a demand?

The implication, immediately following from the (rhetorical) question, whether the current model is "sustainable", that the current state of affairs is, in fact, "not sustainable". Which further implies, the development may cease if someone does not pony up the donations.

Not capitalism. Human rights demand that. If Zuckerberg chooses to pursue happiness that way, it is his right.

There is no such thing. Things are done either as a hobby, or for pay. (The luckiest among us are those, for whom hobby and profession overlap significantly.) That's it.
